The club has committed to four key areas of development for the next five years.
Sustainable Funding: Financial stability is the key to any programme of improvements, and the club is currently very aware that it is not able to put its best foot forward with prices rising across the sport. We are still heavily reliant on our memberships to cover most of the club's overheads, and while we can increase membership fees, this cannot continue indefinitely. We therefore want to secure additional sources of income from sponsorships, and by joining the University’s Sports Endowment Fund, to create an additional source of annual income. This will help us keep membership prices reasonable while building towards all the club’s goals in a responsible way.
Performance and Competitive Success: We aim to improve performance across all three disciplines, expand support for BUCS and ETU qualification pathways and increase opportunities for members to race nationally and internationally. A key goal is to make duathlon and triathlon Varsity matches, as well as BUCS racing, accessible to all members. Through an increased provision of shared competition-level equipment – such as bikes- we can ensure those athletes who are ready to take these competitive steps can do so without the cost of competing, or equipment, being a barrier.
Club Growth: Strengthening the community within the club is central to our vision. By improving the pathway from beginner sessions to development and performance squads, we hope to retain more athletes each year, deepen the collective training culture, and build a strong, whole club identity. As we continue to grow, we want every member to feel supported, whether they are learning to swim front crawl or chasing an international vest.
Outreach: We want to use our platform to make triathlon more accessible to students who might never have considered the sport. Expanding our novice rides, collaboration events with other clubs, and student-led coaching opportunities will help us share the benefits of multisport across the wider University. More student coaches will support the whole club, and better access to the sport will improve the talent we can attract and develop in the limited time students are with the club.
