How You Can Help
The club is actively seeking support in two ways, each directly connected to our long-term goals of performance, accessibility and sustainable club growth.
Immediate Club Development will strengthen the club today. These items will improve training quality, widen access to equipment, and support our growing community of more than 150 student athletes. Gifts of any size can contribute to these priorities, and supporters will be able to see the direct impact of their contribution in the club’s day-to-day training and racing environment.
Endowment Support has the potential to transform the long-term trajectory of OUTriC. Establishing an endowed fund within the University Sports Endowment Fund will create a reliable and recurring income stream that grows over time. This would underpin high-quality coaching, accessible racing opportunities and a stronger programme for future athletes. Because this opportunity requires a significant initial contribution and some brief administration, we ask interested supporters to contact the club directly for more information.
Whether you choose to support the club’s immediate needs or its long-term plans, we are deeply grateful for every contribution that helps OUTriC develop its athletes and compete at the highest level. Thank you for your support.
Immediate Club Development
As many recent alumni and supporters will know, the club faces increasing difficulty in providing the level of coaching, equipment and race support expected of a high-performing university triathlon club. Much of our shared kit is many years old, and the club’s rapid growth to more than 130 members has placed significant pressure on the equipment we currently hold.
Our volunteer committee works hard to repair and maintain what we have, but updating our equipment is essential for supporting beginners safely, enabling performance athletes to train effectively and ensuring OUTriC can compete with confidence at BUCS, Varsity and international events.
Immediate support will allow us to improve the experience of current athletes and remove financial barriers that prevent students from participating fully in triathlon.
Immediate Priorities - In Order of Priority
The following priority order was voted on by the committee.
Turbo Trainer Fleet - £2000
This would provide 10 reliable turbo trainers. Each trainer costs £200. This fleet will enable high-quality winter cycling and coached indoor sessions that are accessible to all members, not only those who own their own equipment.
Interactive Turbo Trainer D100 - £200

Club Race Day Subsidy Fund – £5,860
Costs for races are currently as follows:
-
Competition entry price per person: Varsity triathlon (£55), Varsity Duathlon (£44) and BUCS (£56)
-
Competition transport price per person: Varsity triathlon (£10), Varsity Duathlon (£10) and BUCS (£10) (includes subsidy of around £10 PP for Varsity events)
This fund would allow us to lower the cost of these key events and remove financial barriers to participation.
Club Bikes (Entry Level) – £2100 (£700x3)
This would purchase 3 reliable entry-level road bikes in S, M and L for new athletes who cannot afford their own. These bikes will improve access to group rides, coached sessions and BUCS participation for students without the means to buy a bike. If you have a piece of kit to donate that is still in good shape, please contact Sofya.
Triban 500 Road Bike £700

Club Wetsuits – £1,200 (£200x6)
We aim to maintain around 6 club wetsuits across a full-size range for beginners and those new to open water swimming. This will reduce barriers to entry and ensure everyone can participate safely in lake sessions and race preparation. If you have a piece of kit to donate that is still in good shape, please contact Sofya.

Endowment Opportunity
Many of the goals the club seeks to meet can be achieved by joining the University’s Sports Endowment Fund, an opportunity offered to the club should it be able to raise an initial set-up gift towards the fund. It is for this reason that we are foregrounding the club endowment in our efforts to raise support for the club. With a minimum set-up cost of £52,000 required to join the fund, we are seeking to raise this initial amount, or more, from supporters interested in securing the long-term future of Oxford University Triathlon Club.
While gifts of all sizes are always greatly appreciated in supporting our ‘Immediate Club Developments’, due to the administration involved in setting up this opportunity, there is a £10,000 minimum gift level for contributions to the sports endowment fund.
After meeting the minimum threshold of £52,000, the fund would then begin to release an income of 4% of the total contribution, approximately £2,000 per annum, to the club starting the following academic year. In turn, we seek to gradually build this fund over a number of years, with the aim of supplying over £100,000 to the fund by 2030 - enabling the club to access approximately £4,000 of additional income each year, for use by the whole club. This would continue so long as the club exists, providing a once-in-a-generation opportunity to secure OUTriCs' future.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact us at rosie.thorogood@chem.ox.ac.uk (President) and sofya.lebedeva@gtc.ox.ac.uk (Sponsorship and Alumni Officer), and we will be happy to share further details.
