Letter to friends of OUTriC

Dear Alumni, Supporters, and Friends of OUTriC.

In the 2025-2026 academic year, Oxford University Triathlon Club turns 25.

Against the backdrop of one of the world’s oldest universities, 25 years might not seem that remarkable, yet for every single one of our members, past and present, their experiences in the club have hopefully defined their time at Oxford. As a committee, we are proud to represent the club today as it continues to thrive and steps into the next 25 years of its history.

Today, our athletes measure themselves against competitors across the UK, Europe, and the world, and the role of triathlon within Oxford has never been more important. In the past decade, the club has introduced multisport to hundreds of students. Some progress to represent Oxford in BUCS, Varsity or international races, including European and World Championships, and recent athletes have also competed in the Super Series and WTCS events. Others join to stay active, gain confidence in new disciplines, or find community through training. In every case, triathlon becomes a meaningful chapter of their time at Oxford, and one we hope they remember long after graduating.

Behind the scenes, dedicated student volunteers work hard to manage the rising costs of coaching, facilities, equipment and race travel. Through careful budgeting, they have sustained a high-performance training environment with memorable Varsity matches, and BUCS and international success!

With the club’s anniversary this year, there is an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on this success, but also to consider how the future of OUTriC could look. As such, we have worked as a committee to prepare a clear set of goals to guide us as we develop the club over the next few years. Some of these goals look to the immediate running of the club, while others build towards an ambitious future and how we might begin to create a club that is renowned within multisport; one which attracts the best talent, and supports athletes of all abilities, beginner through to elite, throughout their time at Oxford.

In addition to milestones and goals, the club has also been presented with an opportunity from the University to develop long-term funding, which will help achieve many of our objectives. With the timing of this opportunity, our upcoming anniversary celebration and the future of OUTriC in mind, we are pleased to present this vision for the club. We therefore encourage everyone with an interest in triathlon, student sport, or Oxford more broadly to consider supporting us in achieving these goals. Your support can shape triathlon at Oxford today and for many years to come.

Yours sincerely,

OUTriC Committee
